Clare Hewitt Exhibits at The Midlands Arts Centre: Everything in the Forest is the Forest

From 18 April - 31 August 2026, Clare Hewitt's solo touring exhibition, Everything in the forest is the forest, is at The Midlands Arts Centre in Birmingham. The exhibition presents new work that celebrates trees and their remarkable ability to nurture and communicate. Setting up a studio within a circle of twelve oak trees, Clare documented the forest and its seasonal changes, exploring nature and the forest through a range of sustainable photography techniques.

As part of the exhibition's public programme, Clare organised a symposium in collaboration with UWE and the University of Birmingham, taking place on 19 June 2026, it was titled 'Everything in the forest is the forest: Photography, Connection and Ecology'. The day was shaped around the values of the forest, thinking about how they might be embodied in an event. It brought together different disciplines to exchange knowledge and skills, encourage intergenerational perspectives, share a community meal, offer a collective workshop, and create space for discussion and connection.

The exhibition is an Impressions Gallery touring exhibition, originally presented as part of Bradford 2025 UK City of Culture.
